Of course it is possible to have different configurations:
INPUT directory: that could also be your Lightroom root directory, or a subdirectory within Lightroom
Processing of Raw files: You can decide if you want the XMP files in Lightroom change directly or you can give an alternate path not directly pointing to Lightroom.
